Mitra - The Friendly App

– MITRA (Sanskrit for friend) was an app idea which was born when Arvind, the Co-Founder of CodeMetier was searching for a good electrician in his area using the common yellow pages websites and was unable to find a proper person and ended up doing what we all usually do when we have exhausted all resources - he asked his neighbour for a reference. This is when the realisation struck that some of the best service providers are either technologically challenged, overlooked by the yellow pages teams or do not care to advertise as they have a set of repeat customers they are satisfied with. But one thing is a common factor for all service providers; they own a mobile phone and provide that number to their customers. Smart phones have made a major advent in the Indian and world market and almost everyone owns a smart phone. MITRA works on tapping this market of users and the information they hold on their phones. We are looking to digitise the simple practice of asking your neighbour or friend for assistance. All the users have to do is subscribe to the App and share a few service providers (Electrician, plumber, Bike mechanic, tuition/music teacher etc.,) whose number they already have on their phones with ratings for the service and a short comment. This will make sure that small service providers who are missed out on the yellow pages will also find a listing and people can benefit from this. We aim at making a democratic Service provider information sharing platform, where the ratings cannot be fudged and the information is shared by the people, for the people and is off of the smart phone of the people!

A separate section called the Neighbourhood Notice Board will be available for users to post information and it will be specific to their neighbourhood. This information can be anything from data about an all day power outage in the area to info about a missing child or asking for assistance in blood donation. This section will be monitored to make sure no business men/women use it as an advertisement board for free.

Mitra keeps you engaged with a Helper friend, whom you can tap & get guidance. Mitra allows you to do a camera search too.
